New Jersey autistic discovers Tik Tok glory
During the pandemic, New Jersey singer / songwriter Cory Singer decided to give Tik Tok a try, and the results were impressive to say the least. He now has 400,000 subscribers and over 11 million “likes” for his videos.
One of the peculiarities of Cory, however, is that he is on the autism spectrum and incorporates this fact into his performance.
Cory told Tap Into South Plainfield that he wanted to share his trip with people, “We have so many people speaking out for the autism community instead of letting people in the community speak for ourselves,” Singer said. “Who better to learn than the people who have experienced it? And I’ve never heard of anyone who wrote about a disability like autism and put it into song form.
He tries to communicate through music and videos to help people with autism and their families navigate an often confusing world, and let them know that they are not alone.
He told Tap Into South Plainfield the response has been overwhelming, “I get a lot of messages from a lot of people, and also from people on the autism spectrum saying it’s cool to see someone like me succeed there with autism and a disability,” said Singer.
Cory is promoting his latest single, “Somebody’s Heart,” a song he says pretty much wrote herself, with the melody coming right in, and then the lyrics “blew away.”
