Mom and two young boys found safe after missing in New Jersey for days – NBC New York
A New Jersey mother and her two young children who went missing from their home over the weekend have been found safe, officials said.
It was not immediately clear where Cheng Hsiao and his two boys, Ethan, 3, and Ian, 2, were found, only that they were “located and safe”, the district attorney’s office said. Morris County.
No charges have been filed at this time, the prosecutor’s office said, although Hsiao and her children have indicated they will not be returning to their Montville home. Officials said the three people were being assisted by state authorities.
Hsiao’s husband Kanhan, who reported his wife and children missing on Sunday, was told they had been found.
The three men were last known to be at the Montville Township home on Old Lane on January 22. The prosecutor’s office said Hsiao, 39, was believed to have left the house with the two boys between 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
There was no sign of the mother and sons in the days after they disappeared, but officers said they were found on Thursday.
While investigators said they were not suspected of any foul play, police said there were “concerns for their welfare” but did not say why.
