Gas prices top five dollars a gallon in Ocean County
We all agree that we don’t like high gas prices and we can all disagree on who’s to blame but at the end of the day we all want lower gas prices not only here in New Jersey, but also across the country.
Gas prices are above $5.00 a gallon (Premium) and even “regular” is heading in that direction.
Last weekend it cost me $60.00 to fill my tank and I have a medium sized tank. Those with bigger vehicles spend even more. If I cross that tank in a week to and from work and work-related events, well in a month, I’m spending close to $250 a month on gas alone, some pay that for their car. So it goes without saying that it gets out of control.
The question is what is the solution? Let’s first look at where the “cheapest” gas is in Ocean County. Currently according to Gas-Buddy.com 5/9/22
- Exxon – 2096 Lakewood Road, Toms River $4.39 (regular)
- Exxon – 1 Commonwealth Blvd, Manchester $4.39 (regular)
What are some ways to save gas and reduce our expenses a bit during these days of higher prices? According to US News and World Report, there are several ways to help you.
- Carpool when it suits you
- Maximize your regular trips
- Keep your car tires properly inflated
Just a few simple things you can do to keep your “price at the pump” low on those high price days. We’ll have to keep an eye on how prices continue to go here in Ocean County and see if, in fact, we go above $5.00 per gallon for “regular”.
